Our Story

Our Story: The Movement Behind CREED

In 2021, a diverse group of development leaders came together with a shared belief: racial and ethnic equity is essential to building a just and effective global development sector. From that vision, CREED — the Coalition for Racial and Ethnic Equity in Development — was born.

Launched in early 2022, CREED has grown into a trusted learning hub and bold community of action. Over 100+ organizations have signed on to our mission: to create shared responsibility for equity through learning, dialogue, and practical tools that drive measurable change.

2025 shaped CREED further with significant shifts in the development sector, CREED remains steadfast with its mission to preserve inclusive development work spanning across decades, so that it is saved restored and available for the next generation of development leaders.

What We Do

CREED helps individuals and institutions turn commitment into action. We:

  • Convene peer learning spaces and thought leadership forums
  • Develop tools and strategies for equity-centered development
  • Support emerging leaders through mentorship and training
  • Provide a platform for shared knowledge and collaborative growth

Who We Are

We’re not a traditional nonprofit. We’re a living movement—led by professionals with lived experience, driven by values, and powered by partnership. Our member community includes nonprofits, firms, coalitions, and changemakers from across the development ecosystem.

Why It Matters

When equity is embedded in our systems—not just added on—development becomes more effective, more sustainable, and more just. At CREED, we’re reimagining global development with inclusion at the center.

Join us in building forward.
