Celebrating 5 Years of CREED: Conscience, Courage, and Community
CREED marked its 5th anniversary with an unforgettable evening featuring Sister Helen Prejean, bringing together development leaders across generations to reflect on justice, dignity, and the future of inclusive development.
On February 2, CREED celebrated its 5th anniversary with a powerful keynote and conversation featuring Sister Helen Prejean, internationally recognized advocate for human dignity and social justice and author of Dead Man Walking.
The morning brought together senior leaders, emerging professionals, and long-time champions of inclusive development in a deeply meaningful intergenerational exchange.
Sister Helen reminded us that:
“Justice begins when we choose to see each other’s humanity.”
Her reflections sparked thoughtful dialogue on leadership, equity, and moral courage at a time when the development sector faces profound challenges and transformation.
Building Connections that Strengthen the Development Sector
CREED’s anniversary gathering reflected the heart of our mission: bringing together leaders across generations to preserve knowledge, mentor emerging professionals, and strengthen the development community.
From senior global health and development leaders to young professionals attending their first CREED convening, the evening embodied CREED’s commitment to intergenerational leadership and partnership.
From Conversation to Action: CREED’s Path Forward
CREED’s anniversary marked not only a milestone, but a renewed commitment to advancing three key priorities in 2026:
Learning & Resilience Hub
Building a platform to support the leaders navigating disruption and strengthening inclusive development leadership.
Preserving Inclusive Development Knowledge
Partnering with global leaders and institutions to capture lessons learned and ensure that decades of inclusive development expertise are not lost.
Engaging the Next Generation
Expanding opportunities for emerging leaders through mentoring, dialogue, and convenings that strengthen our collective future.
Together, these efforts are helping build a stronger, more resilient development community grounded in equity and shared leadership.
Why This Work Matters
CREED was founded to advance racial and ethnic equity in global development and to ensure that leadership reflects the diversity, experience, and values needed to meet today’s global challenges. Over the past five years, CREED has emerged as a trusted convener, bringing together senior leaders, emerging professionals, and institutions to engage in honest dialogue, preserve critical knowledge, and shape a more inclusive future.
Our anniversary celebration reaffirmed the power of community and the importance of continuing this work.
